T20: ACC - Mouraria Report

After almost a week of rain, there was concern that the inaugural round of the new T20 competition might not have started as planned. Thankfully Sunday morning brought with it plenty of sunshine, which helped dry out the ground. After a short delay, the first game of the day got underway.

The first match of the day was between the experienced ACC side and Mouraria. Mouraria won the toss and decided to bat first. After losing S.M. Uzzaman relatively early on, the Mouraria side seemed to be starting to stabilize with D.T. Gazi (19) and A. Razzak (11). However, due to a slow run rate and the increasing pressure from the opposition, they began risking more and more and soon fell. The slow run rate also put more pressure on the incoming batsmen, and Mouraria lost 4 more wickets at regular intervals to muster up 81/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Only R. Rahman managed a respectable 15* off 14 balls. ACC bowled well, especially I. Mehdi, taking 3 wickets for only 11 runs in 3 overs.

ACC, only requiring just above 4 runs an over, paced themselves well in search of a comfortable win. S. Bilal (17), P. Singh (21) and Z. Ali (17) were the only wickets to fall. Maintaining a run rate of just under 7.5 an over, N. Butt (15*) off only 8 balls, and R. Khaliq (2*) wrapped up the game for ACC midway through the 12th over. This gave ACC a comfortable win by 7 wickets.
