T20: FCC - ABCC Report

In the 2nd match of the day, Friends CC played against All Brothers CC. The weather was still sunny for the 15:00 start. ABCC won the toss and put FCC into bat first.

FCC started their innings in strong fashion. Maintaining a good run rate throughout their innings, and with some help in field by way of a few dropped catches, allowed for a good spectacle with the batsmen taking centre stage. B. Butt amassed 46 off only 32 balls, while M. Kazim notched up 53* off just 37 deliveries. N. Sohail kept up the run rate with his 22 of 21 balls, after which he decided to be retired out, just short of the allotted 20 overs, bringing FCC’s total up to 170/4 after 20 overs. The bowlers struggled to contain the FCC batsmen, with only A. Ijaz picking up 2 wickets for 24 runs in his 4 overs, and M. Sajid picking up 1 wicket for 27 runs in his 3 overs.

ABCC, requiring just above 8.5 runs per over to win the match, didn’t get off to the greatest start, having R. Javeed (0) caught after only facing 2 deliveries. ABCC struggled to match the run rate, and with patches of rain looming, they started losing wickets on a regular basis. The only 2 batsmen making any noticeable contribution were Y. Ali (38) and M. Irfan (23). FCC looked strong in the field, taking 5 catches to support some good bowling. M Quasar, K. Izaz and M. Kazim all took 2 wickets a piece, helping FCC bowl out ABCC for 110 runs.
